Police Apologizes To Edwin Clark

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris has sent high powered delegation led by DIG Habila Joshak (DIG DOPs) and other Senior Police Officers to apologize to Elder statesman, Chief Edwin Clark whose house was invaded by some Policemen from the Special Tactical Squad.

In a press release by the Force Public Relations Officer, Ag. DCP Jimoh Moshood, he said that  the Inspector General of Police has directed that while the Four Police Personnel are in Detention and being investigated and tried within the Force Disciplinary Procedures before appropriate punishments are meted out to them,.

He also said that the IGP has directed the immediate parade of the informant(Suspect) on Wednesday 5th September, 2018 in the presence of the press and the public, before his prompt arraignment and  prosecution in Court.

The Nigeria Police has disassociated the Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris from the invasion of the residence of Chief Edwin Clark.

In a press release on Tuesday, 4^th September, 2018 by the Force Public Relations Officer, Ag. DCP Jimoh Moshood, he said that the Inspector General of Police is not aware and did not order the raid of the residence of the Elder Statesman as claimed by the writer of the story.

It will be recalled that Vanguard Online publication of 4th September, 2018 credited to one Henry Umoru claimed that the Police on Tuesday raided the Abuja residence of Federal Commissioner for Information and South South Leader, Chief Edwin Clark.

The Police spokesperson said that the Inspector General of Police has directed the detention and investigation of the Four Police personnel and the informant involved while the outcome of the investigation will definitely be made public. 

“Notwithstanding, the facts that on daily basis the Nigeria Police Force across the Country receives information from members of the public which were promptly used to prevent and detect crimes and criminalities, the Force will not condone misconduct by any of its personnel that can run contrary to the rule of law, the statement concluded.

Young Professionals Commends X-Squad Leadership

The United Young Professionals has commended the X-Squad leadership, DCP Amaechi Elumelu and his Commanders nationwide. 

This was contained in a press release on Monday,  September 3rd, 2018 by the National Coordinator of United Young Professional, Adewole Kehinde in Abuja.  He said the response rate of the X-Squad to complaints of Nigerians on the Social Media is the fastest among service delivery monitored so far. 

It will be recalled that following the Presidential Directives to reform SARS,  the Inspector General of Police,  IGP Ibrahim Kpotun-Idris  had appointed CP Haliru Gwandu to oversees the overhaul of SARS under the supervision of DIG Operations,  DIG Josak Habila. 

"The inclusion of DCP Amaechi Elumelu as the head of X-Squad to the Reform Committee is the best thing to happen to the FSARS as the unit has changed the minds and perception of Nigerians positively to the Nigeria Police Force, Adewole said.

He further reiterated that the swift responses from the State Commanders is commendable as they have not left any stone unturned to acheving their desired results of sanitising the Police Force. 

Adewole called on the general public to make use of the available communications lines,  emails and physical addresses to report any act of Police Personnel capable of tarnishing the image of the Force. 

"We called on the Federal Government to as a matter of urgency allocate adequate fund for the reform of the Nigeria Police Force in accordance with International Policing Standard,  the statement concluded.

Matthew Seiyefa was nominated for the top job based on merit and achievements in service and that should not be replaced with nepotism as some quarters are already promoting.

The IYC Scribe called on Bar. Matthew Seiyefa to shun desperate politicians whose trade is to politicise the nation’s security system. In his statement, Mr. Alfred kemepado said that it is becoming obvious that desperate politicians are working tirelessly to thwart the noble achievements of the new D.G especially in his reorganisation of the service to fit into its founding principles and values as expected in a democratic society.

He said from Bar. Seiyefa’s inaugural speech to his actions has not only shown that he is a thoroughbred, but he his adding value daily to the President Buhari led government in the areas of respect to human rights and even more. That within the short period of his service we have built confidence in him and we are willing to work with him.

We are calling on President Buhari to totally prohibit the politicization of our security system and deal decisively with the promoters of such, especially in these days of various political challenges.

Furthermore, the IYC Scribe thanks President Buhari again for considering a son of the South of Nigeria for the job as it has put to rest to a large extent the agitation of the one sided appointment of security chiefs.

He said those who are flaunting nepotism at the expense of national security for their private gains are not just enemies of democracy, but enemies of The President Buhari’ s administration in these challenging times.

We Cannot Have The Police Of Our Desire If We Continue To Ridicule The Reformatory Efforts Of IGP Ibrahim Idris - Young Professionals

Nigerians have been urged to see the Nigeria Police as a vehicle of law-enforcement and positive change, rather than just a platform for corruption. This advice was given in a statement made available to reporters by the National Coordinator of United Young Professional, Adewole Kehinde in Abuja on Monday.

"Until we unveil our caged senses to see beyond our peculiar fogginess, we shall continue to unfairly belittle the Police and by the break of dawn, we shall only discover to our national shame that we have security agents garbed in official uniforms, but very unwilling to protect us, because of our expressed ingratitude to their sacrifices, having deliberately failed to appreciate them and preferring to cast aspersions and dark shadows on the Police, as good only as agents of darkness, Adewole said.

Adewole further reiterated that most people that criticizes the Nigeria Police has never mentioned the statistics of high profile crimes that had been combated under the IGP Ibrahim Idris.

The Inspector General of Police had enforced penetrative reforms in the Nigeria Police Force, initiating an insidious spy squad to trail and expose erring and corrupt police officers for appropriate sanctions.

And for the first time, the Nigeria Police Force is not shielding its corrupt or erring officers who act as cogs in its determination to battle crimes of all dimensions.

Not totally absolving the Nigeria Police Force of blame, it was stated that rather than see the Police in a totally bad light, we were also to see the reforms in the Nigeria Police Force that have worked to change the Police Force and making it become alive to its responsibilities; having disciplined and courageous personnel, with eyes fixated on integrity in consonance with the change mantra of the President Muhammadu Buhari regime.

It created its own internal disciplinary and punitive mechanisms against any officer who traduces the new creed of conduct as proclaimed by IGP Idris. Just recently, a Police officer in the famed case of the University of Port Harcourt suspected ritualist in Police custody, who escaped was arrested by the Police itself and arraigned in court for official negligence. 

It also stated that worthy of commendation, was the arrest of suspected billionaire kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, aka Evans, who had an amazing network and terrorized Nigerians for years and also the case of the brave cops, who confronted some armed robbers during a robbery operation at Zenith Bank in Owerri, Imo State, and paid the supreme price.

They had the option of abandoning their arms and ammunition and scurrying for safety, but they patriotically executed the duty of defending Nigerians unto their graves.

"We cannot have the Police of our desire if we continue to ridicule the reformatory efforts of a crack Police Officer, like IGP Ibrahim Idris who has devoted time and energy to rebrand the Police in combating crime in our country, Adewole concluded.

Exclusive: CG Federal Fire Service Refuses To Handover After 35 Years Mandatory Service

The Controller General, Federal Fire Service, Engr. Joseph Garba Anebi whose 35 years mandatory service terminated on Friday, 31 August, 2018 is yet to hand over the affairs of the Service to his second in command contrary to rule of law and the General Order guiding the Public Service.

Sources close to the Service gathered that as at close of work on Friday, the CG was seen in his office.

What is more interesting about the whole issue according to our source was that the CG called a management meeting to inform them that the Ministry of interior had written to the Presidency to request for a 4-month extension of Service on his behalf.

He further confirmed that as at the time of the meeting he was yet to receive an approval.

"This is fraudulent, since it means that our No. 1 Fireman is discharging the duties of his office based on anticipatory approval,  a staff who wish to remained anonymous said. 

On further investigation, it was gathered that the CG Fire was issued a letter in June, 2018 from the Presidency directing him to hand over to the second in command and proceed on a forced retirement. 

He however, rallied resources and goodwill to get a soft-landing to serve till his mandatory 35 years which was 31 August, 2018.

It then beats the imagination that somebody who was to proceed on forced- retirement in June is being considered for an extension of service.

Efforts to reach the Controller General, Federal Fire Service, Engr. Joseph Garba Anebi as press time proved abortive.

Corrupt FSARS Officer Sacked For Extorting N5,000 From A Motorist In Lagos

An inspector of the Nigerian Police Force attached to the Federal Special Anti-Robery Squad (FSARS), Charles Omotosho, has been dismissed for extorting N5,000 from road users in Ikorodu area of Lagos State.

His dismissal came three months after a resident of Ikorodu, Princess Ife had tweeted on May 16 claiming that the officer threatened to shoot at her and others, except they paid a ‘ransom’ of N5,000.

“With my encounter today, it is safe to say SARS are armed robbers. Was going for a shoot in Ikorodu today and armed member of SARS pulled us over and made us pay for no reason.

“Threatening they were going to waste our lives. I made a transfer so that they can be traced,”

her tweet read.

The PCRRU tweeted on Friday that the Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 2, Lagos, Ibrahim Adamu, has approved the dismissal of Mr Omotosho.
