The 10th OPEC/Non-OPEC Declaration Of Cooperation Ministerial Meeting To Conclude The Curtailment Of Crude Oil Production By 9.7million Barrels




Nigeria has joined its other OPEC+ counterparts to bring into effect the agreement to cut 9.7 Million Barrels of supply following the alignment of Mexico.

According to a press release on Sunday, April 12th, 2020, by the Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Marlin Sylva, he said that the intervention of the United States of America resulted in Mexico agreeing to a cut of 100 KBOPD and to be complemented by an additional 300 KBOPD by US Producers.

The statement read, "This will enable the rebalancing of the oil markets and the expected rebound of prices by $15 per barrel in the short term. This also promises an appropriate balancing of Nigeria’s 2020 budget that has been rebased at $30 per barrel.

"As agreed, Nigeria will join OPEC+ to cut supply by 9.7 Million Barrels per day between May and June 2020, Eight (8) Million Barrels per day between July and December 2020 and Six (6) Million barrels per day from January 2021 to April 2022, respectively.

"Based on reference production of Nigeria of October 2018 of 1.829 Million Barrels per day of dry crude oil, Nigeria will now be producing 1.412 Million Barrels per day, 1.495 Million Barrels per day and 1.579 Million Barrels per day respectively for the corresponding periods in the agreement.

"This is in addition to condensate production of between 360-460 KBOPD of which are exempt from OPEC curtailment, the statement concluded.

#COVID19: Niger State Announces Two Weeks Lock Down


Following the confirmation of the first case of coronavirus, #COVID19, Niger state government has announced that it would implement total lockdown for two weeks from Monday.
Briefing journalists after an emergency executive council meeting on Saturday, governor Abubakar Bello said the decision became necessary after the confirmation of one positive case of COVID-19.
According to him, the patient who resides at Limawa area of Minna, is a returnee from Lagos state, adding that people of the community would also be in isolation for the two weeks.
Bello also suspended till further notice, all religious gatherings in churches and mosques.
Local tailors association in the state, he said were being contacted to produce face masks.

We Shall Overcome COVID-19 - Dr. Okei-Odumakin




The Centre for Change has encouraged Nigerians that the country shall overcome the Coronavirus as they celebrate Easter under lockdown.

In a press release by the President, Centre for Change, Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin, she said that it has been a long season of anxiety and sacrifices.

The statement reads, "We have changed the way we live our lives. We have lived in fear and despair in the last few months.

"But the good news is that it is not going to last forever.

"Let us trudge on observing the rules. In the end victory is ours and we shall have the last laugh.

"This too shall become history and we shall hug again and be close to ourselves in our usual gatherings.

"Social distancing is for a while.

"Christ was buried on Friday and rose on Sunday. We shall rise to our normal lives again as a people.

"Government should try harder in the area of palliative and ensure it reaches the people directly so they are not killed by hunger under lockdown, the statement concluded.

COVID-19: Niger State Reaches Major Decisions To Curb Spread Of Coronavirus


The Niger State Government has taken major decisions at it's Joints Emergency State Executive Council meeting and State Taskforce on COVID-19.

According to a press release by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Niger State, Mary Noel-Berje, she listed the decisions as follows:

1. Niger State Government places 24-hours complete lockdown for 2-weeks starting from Monday 13th April 2020.

2. Government appeal to citizens to give their maximum cooperation.

3. Four days window has been provided starting from Thursday 16 April, Monday 20th April, Thursday 23rd April; and Monday 27th April 2020 from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

4. The window period is is not for social and religious gathering as defaulters will be arrested and prosecuted.

5. All social and religious congregational activities are suspended.

6. Intra and inter state movement of people are banned within the lockdown period.

8. All borders across the state are closed.

9. Limawa Community in Minna where a case was detected is to be isolated for two weeks.

10. Health workers to conduct sensitization on the spread of the virus.

11. Quarantine Centre at the Social Rehabilitation Centre Minna has been reactivated in addition to the fully equipped one at the Minna General Hospital.

12. Government has commenced the furnishing of the 48-bed capacity isolation/treatment centre donated by El-Amin Foundation in Minna.

13. All the identified isolation centres in the state are to be equipped.

14. The public has been urged to use all precautionary measures by using facemasks when going out as well as adhering to frequent hand washing and social distancing.

15. Government has commenced the distribution of palliatives at ward levels.

16. Civil Servants are to operate at home except those on essential services.

Maikaya Felicitates With Christians On Easter


The Chairman of Maikaya Development Foundation has felicitated with Christians on the occasion of Easter, which commemorates the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

In a press release made available to the media on Saturday,  Maikaya urged citizens to imbibe the selfless attributes displayed by Jesus Christ.

“As we merry with friends, family and other loved ones for the festivities, we are implored to also remember the essence of Easter which is recognition of the love, sacrifice and suffering Jesus Christ bore for humanity,” Maikaya said.

Maikaya also preached that all necessary precautions should be taken to avoid contracting COVID19

He tasked Nigerians to use the occasion of Easter to pray for the safety and wellbeing of  those that has contracted the COVID19.

Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello Announces Total Lockdown Effective Monday 13th April



………As Niger State records first confirmed case of COVID-19

Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello has directed the complete lockdown of the state for Twenty four Hours for the next two weeks starting from the 13th of April, 2020.

Following the announcement of a confirmed case of the deadly Corona Virus (COVID-19) disease in Minna, the state capital.

However, a window is created to allow people replenish household essentials, on the following days, Thursday 16th April, Monday 20th April, Thursday 23rd April and Monday 27th April, 2020 from 6AM to 6PM, adding that the window is not for social or religious activities as anyone caught flaunting the order will face the wrath of the law.

In an address to Nigerlites, the Governor said the decisive action became necessary in order to endure the pains of today and avoid the consequential damage of tomorrow.

He disclosed that the confirmed covid-19 case is one Abubakar Sani from Limawa area of Minna, who travelled and returned home two weeks ago, adding the he didn't get access to his family on return but has endangered those he travelled with in the same vehicle as well as other neighbours.

The Governor directed that the entire Limawa area in Minna should be quarantined while patrol within the streets of Minna should be carried out extensively.

Governor Sani Bello noted that it was time for collective action, rather than sentiments, against the pandemic, adding that if the situation gets worse, the state do not have enough manpower, resources or technical knowhow to curtail the spread.

Accordingly, the Governor directed all political appointees to go back to their Local Government Areas to coordinate and monitor activities and, most importantly, carry out sensitization and report back to the state government at the centre. 

The Governor also maitained that the lockdown does not affect those on special duties and essential services especially those that carry food and pharmaceuticals as well as Vigilantes .

He stated that, in case of any casualty, only the NSTA vehicles will be available or deployed for emergency services as all parks are expected to remain closed.

The Governor also directed the committee on Covid-19 to provide palliatives to those that are in dire need and also provide reflective jackets for the taskforce on essential service to be distributed to all the Local Government Areas and other members.

Meanwhile, the state Ministry of Health has set up additional isolation centres to attend to cases that may come their way while the only confirmed case is already isolated and being taken care of.

The Governor expressed appreciation to all those who have donated to the government towards ameliorating the sufferings of the people.

We must continue to obey and practice all the rules of social distancing, regular washing of hands with soap and staying back at home as directed by His Excellency, Senator, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, as this remains the purposeful way to rid our communities and Nation of the COVID-19 pandemic. Being the season of love, lets us show love by supporting our Governor through obedience to the stay at home directive.

We should also show love by remembering the ideals of sacrifice exemplified in the death at Calvary of our Lord Jesus Christ to save humanity by using this period of stay at home as our sacrifice and period to pray to God for compassion to humanity by bringing a quick solution to end this pandemic.
