..... says further delays will not be tolerated
Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson
has expressed dismay over the delay in the payment of salaries to workers in
the State, despite his directive to this effect.
The Governor, who frowned at the situation has,
therefore, directed the
Head of Service, the Accountant – General and the
Accountants of all the Ministries, MDAs, Departments and Parastatals to ensure
that, the directive is carried out, not later than Monday, 13th of
June, 2016.
A Government House statement by the Chief Press
Secretary to the Governor, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, says Governor Dickson
queried why the salaries were delayed, despite the fact that, monies were
released to all the ministries, MDAs, Departments and Parastatals, since last
Thursday, when the directive was issued.
According to the statement, the Governor has also
demanded an immediate explanation from the Head of Service, the Accountant
General and other relevant officers on what necessitated the delay.
While regretting the unfortunate situation, he also
used the opportunity to commend workers in the state for their patience, sense
of maturity and understanding, stressing that, the Government remains committed
to the welfare of workers at all levels in the State.
Hon. Dickson, however, warned that, failure to carry out the directive by Monday will attract stringent disciplinary action against the erring officers of the Government.
