Ademola Adeleke Escapes Assassination Attempt At Ikirun, Ede

The Governorship flag-bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ademola Adeleke, today escaped dual  assassination attempts at Ikirun and Ede while continuing his meet the voters campaign.

In both cases, gunmen stormed the campaign grounds, shooting sporadically and attacking party members. Political thugs of the APC led both attacks against the PDP flag-bearer.

At Ikirun, the bus carrying the flag-bearer; the party  chairman, Hon Soji Adagunodo and other leaders came under attack while other campaign vehicles were vandalised.

While the campaign at Ikirun was cut short, the candidate faced similar attacks while preparing to attend the rally at his hometown, Ede.

Thousands of party loyalists and voters had gathered waiting for both the candidate and star artiste, Davido.

As the candidate made to the rostrum alongside other leaders, gunshots rented the air, dispersing the crowd and leading to multiple injuries.

The candidate was whisked to safety and he is safe and secured according to the spokesman of the campaign, Olawale Rasheed.

Rasheed who confirmed the incidents said this is a continuation of series of attacks on PDP and her candidate in the countdown to this week election.

"Our governorship candidate has come under several attacks in the last two weeks. Gunmen attacked the Adeleke country home during the week. Our campaign convoy was breached recently. Thugs ambushed our convoy at Osogbo, also in addition to frequent attacks and vandalisation of our billboards.

"All these are signs PDP is winning this election. The ruling party is jittery, hence her resorting to violence. But Osun voters are resolute. Ademola Adeleke is their choice for the governorship. No amount of intimidation can change that reality", Rasheed, Director of Publicity for the Ademola Adeleke Campaign told reporters.
