Equity Advocate Initiative is a leading Civil Society Organization in the country with the cardinal objectives of promoting good governance and transparency.
We are alarmed about the action of immediate past Director General of National Broadcasting Commission Emeka Mba in flaunting a ministerial order of Minister of Information and Culture for him to hand over to the most senior Director in the agency after his sack.
We were shocked when he handed over to Armstrong Idachaba, a Director in DG’s office that joined the organization in 1996 as against the most senior Director in the agency Awwalu Salihu, Director of Public Affairs of the agency. This action by the immediate past DG is against all known conventions in the service and there is urgent need for this to be reverted to avert any brake down of law and order in the organization because is already generating tension in the agency.
As an advocate of good governance and transparency, we call on the Hon Minister of Information and Culture to look into this matter urgently and revert the action of the sacked DG because we are in an era of change where impunity must not be allowed.
