...Says Ijaw Nation Lost A Goodman, Elder Statesman
The immediate past Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency, Chief Henry Seriake Dickson, has described the death of Chief GCM Odungba at 88, as the sad loss of a good man and statesman to Bayelsa and the Ijaw nation.
A statement by His Media Advisor, Mr Fidelis Soriwei, on
Tuesday, quoted the former Governor as having described Chief Odumgba, the
Adokale, as a great man who touched many lives in his days as teacher, player
in the Petroleum industry and politician.
He said that Chief Odumgba who was Chairman of the
Restoration and PDP Caucus used the opportunities and influence of the platform
to galvanize support for his administration.
Chief Dickson recalled that he worked closely with
the late Chief when they both aspired to govern the state under the platform of
the defunct All Nigeria Progressives Party between 2000 and 2003 and had been
very close to him since then.
Chief Dickson urged the widow, children and
grandchildren of the late Chief to be consoled by the full and exemplary life
he lived.
Chief Dickson, the holder of prestigious title of
Ogbogbo Olotu 1 òf Oguan in Attisa and Epie kingdoms also condoled with monarch
òf Epie and the Attissa kingdoms and all the Councils of Chiefs on the passing
of the elder statesman.
He said that he would work closely with the family
and the council of chiefs to ensure that Chief Odumgba gets a befitting burial.
The Governor who prayed for the repose of the soul
of the deceased also pray to the Almighty God to give the family the fortitude
to bear the loss
