GBB Set To Provide Prompt Resolutions To MDAs IT Challenges

The Galaxy Backbone Limited is set to provide prompt resolutions to MDAs IT challenges as part of its Post COVD-19 Measures.

This was made known on Monday by the Managing Director of Galaxy Backbone Limited, Professor Muhammed Abubakar at the Breakfast Meeting for ICT Directors with the theme "Exploring GBB's Fibre & Other Services Opportunities."

Professor Muhammed Abubakar who was represented by the Group Head, Business Development , Abdul-Malik Suleiman said that ICT Directors were invited to the Breakfast Meeting in order to  expose them to the world class Digital Technology platforms built and developed to help connect & transform public institutions into organisations that can thrive effectively in the ‘new world of work’ and to renew GBB commitment to providing effective service to MDAs through the bouquet of Digital services the Company offers and to providing prompt resolutions to their IT challenges.

“We have noted the challenges government organisations have with getting last mile from our fibre point to their organisations and we have resolved as an organisation to easing this to some extent to all the organisations here present today as a way to encourage you to take on some of the digital services we offer, Prof. Abubakar said.

He further said that the Federal Executive Council, which stands at the peak of executive governance, has continued to meet in spite of the pandemic leveraging the technology and skilled professionals working in Galaxy Backbone.

He reiterated that that the same value offered to the Federal Executive Council will be offered to all the MDAs present at the meeting as the company will not rest on its laurels but continue to improve while collaborating with government organisations.

In his remarks,  Suleiman, Group Head, Business Development, GBB, said that the agency was ready to support the government's initiative inline with the National  Digital Economy Strategic Plan (NDESP).

He explained that the quarterly event enables the GBB feel the pulse of the customer and know where to pinpoint their challenges with the view to improve.

"What we have done is to continue to improve our services in such a way that our customers will continue to derive value for their money.

"If you listen to my explanation I was attaching value to the money they are paying and if we say something is expensive, we must compare apple for apple and I dare say that we are the most competitive ICT organisation in Nigeria that compares value for money.

Galaxy Backbone was established by the Federal Government of Nigeria to operate a nationwide IP-based network that will provide a common platform for connectivity and other infrastructure services for all Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

Galaxy Backbone is responsible for provision of shared ICT infrastructure, applications and services to all Federal Government MDAs and institutions; building and operating a single nation-wide IP broadband network to provide network services to all Federal Government MDAs and institutions; Deployment and maintaining all national database management systems and transversal applications in government. These include government wide messaging and collaboration, federal public service personnel and payroll system, Government gateway and national portal.

Set standards and guidelines for the support of government MDAs in the acquisition and acceptable usage of ICT infrastructure, applications and services across different agencies and government institutions; Providing Wide Area Networks(WAN) and Metropolitan Area Networks(MAN) to connect all government entities and be the provider of technical support to the Ministry of Communication Technology for end to end Quality Assurance of ICT projects and capacity building for ICT professionals in government.
