Benue Government Attributes Ortom’s Poor Online Poll Rating To Supporters’ Lack Of Internet Access

The Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon. Odeh Ageh has dismissed the poor performance rating of Governor Samuel Ortom in a poll conducted on BENUE.COM.NG and attributed the results to the lack of internet access of the Governor’s supporters due to the impoverishment caused by the Suswam administration.
The poll which was conducted to assess what people thought of the Governor’s performance had 675 people participants of which the majority (43%, 289) voted that the Governor had performed poorly while 55 (8%) rated his performance as abysmal. On the other hand, 21%, 15% and 10% judged his performance as fair, good and excellent respectively while 4% said they didn’t care.
In a press release through his assistant on media and ICT, the Commissioner insisted that had the past administration performed well, Governor Ortom’s supporters will be buoyant enough to have Internet to access the website and stamp their approval of the Governor’s performance.
“As with any online based survey, the news medium left margins for bias against Ortom whose supporters probably did not have a broader affinity for Internet technology, or more access to the news website or general new media technology due to their impoverishment by the previous administration.”
The Commissioner further described the results as the work of opposition, saying it was fabricated, biased, false and misleading.
“Hon. Odeh Ageh has dismissed as biased, false and misleading, the ratings of the performance of Governor Samuel Ortom, as poor, by an online news portal, benue.com.ng.”
“The Information and Orientation Commissioner acknowledges the existence of the news portal, he finds its rating of the Ortom-led administration hard to accept, because the poll result is not only a spurious fabrication and targeted at discrediting the good performance of the governor, it also insults the sensibility of Benue workers and people who are witnessing and benefitting from the good governance brought to bear in the state by Governor Ortom.”
Commenting on the press release on social media, Pem Titus Terna said, ” That is how PDP in Benue kept dismissing information about it poor performance but where are they today? Same will happen tomorrow, let them be playing politics of abracadabra but card reader and PVC is there.”
Another said, “This is how Labaran Maku kept dismissing online polls/surveys that PMB would win the 2015 general elections and he now knows better but it’s too late! For the Governor Ortom led administration it’s not too late to GO TO WORK! …Online polls are always a true reflection of the people! Let the commissioner for information put up a poll on the state government website and he will NOT see a different result.”
