Delta Speaker Mourns Oborevwori, Ugogu


The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Monday Igbuya Thursday sent a condolence message to the member representing Okpe State Constituency in the House, Hon Sheriff Oborevwori.

Pa Johnson Oborevwori, father of the Honourable member, died in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia at the age of 80.

The Speaker in a statement issued by his chief press secretary, Mr. Henry Ebireri, described Late Pa Johnson Oborevwori as a legend in his own life time and an extraordinary man who demonstrated a life of service, love, compassion and excellence.

Besides, he noted that Pa Oborevwori was a disciplined and resourceful man, who was able to bring up his children, including Hon Oborevwori,, that have excelled in their chosen careers.

“Late Oborevwori had a generous spirit. He was dependable in every facet of his life. He was also admired for his wit, charm, vision and steadfast devotion to his friends and family. He will be remembered as a loving and caring father” Igbuya said.

Noting that Oborevwori  was well respected for his efforts in the development of Delta State, particularly Okpe kingdom, Igbuya said

“It was on record that the highly respected Okpe chief worked hard in his early age, thus inspiring Hon Oborevwori and other prominent Deltans” the statement said.

“Pa Oborevwori’s life of selfless service to his people and the larger Okpe Community is a legacy that most of us in leadership position need to imbibe,” he said.

He urged Hon Oborevwori, his relatives and the people of Okpe kingdom to take solace in the belief that God’s will is unquestionable.

“Take solace in the enduring legacies and fulfilled life he lived” he advised.

He prayed God Almighty to grant the soul of the departed eternal rest.

Similarly, the speaker, weekend described Late Mary Oduta Okoye Ughogu as a great personality.     

“Words cannot convey what she meant to the children and the people here. She was a great woman, a loving mother and lover of her people” he maintained.     


Igbuya who was in Umurhi Quarters, Odidama village, Agulu said Ughogu served her community to the best of her ability.
“She lived a life of sacrifice. She built a bridge of hope and unity among her people. She will be remembered for elevating the profile of her community” he said.
