World Children’s Day; Nigeria Media To Go Blue For Children



Government at various level,  Media across Nigeria and the United Nations will mark the World Children’s Day (WCD) on 20 November, which is the anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. 

As part of the World Children’s Day commemoration, UNICEF has called on all Nigeria media to go blue for children. #GoBlue in Nigeria.

"We seek your collaboration to provide platforms for children to commemorate this year’s World Children’s Day by involving them in your programmes and news. We intend to #GoBlue in Nigeria, as the rest of the world would be doing on this day. Going blue will include a touch of blue in your news studios, newscasters and children participating in your programmes and news operations wear blue as well. It could include having a touch of blue in your publications, mast heads, webpages, blogposts etc.

"Also, UNICEF will present a petition for global signing by millions of people, which will be active for one year. The visual signatures will be handed over to world leaders at the UN on 20 November 2019 at the 30thAnniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child – calling for recommitments and new, stronger commitments to child rights.

UNICEF further reiterated that Nigerians should think children and include them in all we do on November 20, 2018.

"Let us all together raise the bar for children’s rights on November 20, UNICEF concluded.
