The Katsina State Governor, Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari has reassured that the APC Administration would continue to evolve social security systems to reduce poverty in the country.
Katsina Media and Publicity reports that, Masari was speaking during the launching of the Conditional Cash Transfer Programme in Rimi, Rimi Local Government Area.
The Governor observed that government could not provide adequate security in a society with people afflicted by poverty.
He explained that the APC social security system is similar to the programmes being implemented in advanced and Arab worlds to cushion the effects of poverty, which influences the youths to engage in antisocial vices such as armed robbery, banditry and above all insurgency.
Masari announced that; in the future, the programme will be assisting unemployed people and those with no skills that are above the age of 18, adding that the programme will overlook partisanship and religious dogma in assisting the vulnerable in the country.
@katgovmedia quoted Gov. Masari that the Katsina State government had demonstrated that through implementation of effective policies in education, health, agriculture and security without politicisation of the sectors.
Masari requested women that would benefit from the cash transfer programme to utilize the proceeds in engaging in trades to enhance their livelihood. This, he said would enable them to give female children chances and opportunities to go to school.
He said the social security systems would also benefit youths in Katsina State. The Governor said the state government would ensure that all graduates of NCE are engaged through the state owned S-Power scheme, stressing that in the future, the S-Power would recruit 2 to 3 thousand university graduates.
Our correspondents gathered that in her remarks, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Girl Child Education, Hajiya Binta Abba explained that the Conditional Cash Transfer Programme is being implemented in 12 local governments with each senatorial zone having four local governments.
At today's occasion, she said the beneficiaries would receive the 9 and 10 phases of the payments, adding that so far N1.2Billion had been disbursed in Katsina State since the programme started in the state.
Binta Abba revealed that 45,602 households have been benefiting from the programme. Both the Transition Committee Chairman of Rimi local government, Alhaji Abdullahi Turaji and the District Head of Rimi, Alhaji Nuhu Abdulkadir expressed gratitude to Governor Masari for selecting Rimi to launch the social security system in the area.
Alhaji Nuhu Abdulkadir used the occasion to thank the Governor for the award of contract for the rehabilitation of Rimi semi urban water supply project.
The state coordinator of the Conditional Cash Transfer Programme, Alhaji Shafiu Abdullahi revealed that Bakori leads with N34Million monthly disbursement while Baure follows with N30Million monthly, stressing that beneficiaries receive N5,000 monthly from the scheme.
Highlight of the ceremony was presentation of the monies to some of the beneficiaries of the scheme.
