Niger State Govt Pledges Continuous Support To Women As NAWOJ National Officials Pay Thank You Visit

Niger State Government has pledged its continuous support and partnership with women in the development of the state and the country as a whole .

The State Governor stated this when the new National President and other officials of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) paid him a thank you visit at the Government House Minna, the state capital.

The Governor who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Ibrahim Balarabe said that the roles of women in the development of the state and the country as a whole can not be over emphasized as they always do their best when given any responsibility.

The Representative of the Governor said the State government will continue to encourage women to do their best even as the present administration is gender sensitive having appointed a lot of women in various leadership positions.

He then congratulated the Association for hosting a successful delegates conference and election of new National officials.

He prayed God to grant the newly elected executives wisdom to take the Association to a greater height.

Earlier, the Newly elected National President of the Association of Nigeria Women of Journalists, Ladi Bala expressed gratitude to the Niger State government towards its unflinching support to the Niger State Chapter of NAWOJ for successfully hosting the Association's 10th Triennial Delegates National Conference in Minna.

The National President also commended the State Government for its role in running the affairs of NAWOJ in the state and for the NAWOJ State Secretariat which was recently commissioned.

She said such structure is the first in North Central Zone and second in the Country

The National President then appealed to the State government to give priority to the training and retraining of the women journalists to enable them compete with their counterparts worldwide.

She also requested for the support of Niger State Government on a National Advocacy Campaign on rape which she said will be lunched in the State come 2021.

The Niger State Chapter of NAWOJ with the support of the State government hosted her 10th Triennial Delegates Conference which was adjudged to be the best by many, where the State Governor was honoured with an award of excellence in gender sensitive.

His counterparts in Kano and Kwara States were equally given awards each for their tremendous support to the Association in particular and Women in general.
