Masari Calls On Ulama To Play Their Role In Educating The People On Qualities Of Leaders And Leadership


The Katsina State Governor, Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari has stressed the need for the Ulamas to preach for the emergence of good leadership in the country.

According to a report by the Katsina Media and Publicity, Masari was speaking at the graduation of 190 students that memorized the Holy Qur'an at Madrasatul Daril Imam Litahafizil Qur'anil Karim, Unguwar Liman, Katsina.

The Governor cited example with the effort made to choose a leader after prophet Muhammad (SAW), saying that the Sahabas voted for the next leader of the Ummah based on merit even though they are all sahabas.  

He said although the current contestants to the Presidential seat are followers of the same faith, but the qualities differ, adding that the Ulama need to harp on the good leadership qualities of a candidate.   

Masari also took time to warn on the dangers of drug abuse and the serious effect of social media, especially as it relates to hate speech.                    

He equally harped on the importance of both Islamic and western education, stressing that the ulama needed to champion the cause of education in the state.                

@katgovmedia reports that several speakers spoke on the history of the school, the performance of the students, the philanthropic assistance rendered to the school by both government and individuals among others.        

Highlight of the graduation ceremony includes the recitation of the Holy Qur'an by the graduating students.
