Group Calls On Bayelsa State And Federal Government To Implement The Justice Margret Akpomiemie Judicial Commission Of Inquiry Report



A non governmental organisation, Southern Ijaw National Group has called on the Federal Government and the Bayelsa State Government to implement the Justice Margret Akpomiemie Judicial Commission of Inquiry report by prosecuting those who were fingered to have either sponsor or been directly involved in the December 2015 Bayelsa Governorship Election.

The Director of Policy, Save Ijaw National Group, Comrade Femi Lawson said this at the launch of the #VoteAMust in Abuja on Wednesday. He said that by prosecuting those actors of electoral violence, hose who lost their lives , the affected families and communities involved will feel the sense of justicve and genuine compassion.

In her own submission, Dr Itari called on Nigerians to defend their votes and make sure its counts. She further said that the group has map out long term engagment programme to senstize voters across the country especially the Niger Delta States.

In his submission, a board member of the Save Ijaw National Group, Bar. Kayode Ajulo called on the  Federal Government and the Bayelsa State Government to implement the Justice Margret Akpomiemie Judicial Commission of Inquiry report the group might be force to approach the Law court to compel both Federal and the Bayelsa State Government to prosecute those who were fingered to have either sponsor or been directly involved in the December 2015 Bayelsa Governorship Election.

A member of the coalition, Morgan Madu cited the instances of the just concluded Osun State Gubernatorial election which was marred by violence. He called for a conducive environment where voters can vote without intimidation.

Another member of the group, Comrade Abiodun Idris said that said that the upcoming election present an opportunity for thr people to speak out loud as the start of a process-based transformation of the Niger Delta to take its rightful place as a center of development and a fountain of all that is possible in Nigeria.
