Police Is Our Friend And Partners - Young Professionals

....Says Police respect and obeys Fundamental Human

Right of suspects

Nigerians have been urged to ignore the fake news published in an online blog titled "Beware! Police are your ‘Enemy’"  credited to Mr Segun Awosanya also known as Segalink.

In a press release on Saturday in Abuja,  the National Coordinator of United Young Professionals,  Adewole Kehinde said that the Police Public Relations Office under DCP Jimoh Moshood and Mr Segun Awosanya's group partnership, efforts and collaboration in the implementation of the NPF repositioning strategies of the IGP is highly appreciated. Nigerians are indeed grateful too so we know the statement credited to him was fake and malicious.

"We also commend Mr Segun Awosanya for debunking the publication via a tweet "A blog copied these tweets and titled it “Police is your Enemy” crediting such to me. Please if that is all you make of this thread then it is unfortunate. Help Police heal by steering clear of ambiguous issues that will be interpreted as a Crime best summarize the thread.,   Adewole said.

"We challenge the online media to supply Nigerians with concrete evidence of 'young Nigerians that have been tortured to death by police during these alleged stolen phones investigations'.

Adewole further said that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty and the Police as enforcer of the Law is well aware of that.

"The online medium should have known that aside the the IGP X-Squad and Monitoring Unit who are already handling many cases of infractions,  there are human rights desks across all the Police formation across handling complaints against any erring Police personnel,  Adewole said.

He further urged Nigerians who wish to sell their used phones originally bought by them to signed indemnity forms by both buyers and sellers to protect both from any issues that might arise on such phones.

"The offence of Receiving Stolen Property is only charged when the Police suspect an item is a stolen item but have no evidence of stealing therefore they resort to charging RSP where the accused will explain how he came in possession of the property. Market overt is a defence.

He urged Nigerians to make use of all the available means to report any infractions to
