Masari Attends The Turbaning Of Sen. Ida As "Sardaunan Katsina"

The Katsina State Governor, Rt. Hon Aminu Bello Masari had earlier today attended the turbaning ceremony of Sen. Ibrahim M. Ida Asa, the Sardaunan Katsina by His Royal Highness, the Emir of Katsina, Alh. (Dr.) Abdulmumin Kabir Usaman at the Emirs Palace, Kangiwa Katsina.

Katsina Media and Publicity reports that the ceremony which commenced at 11am was to replace the Late Sardauna, Ibrahim Commassie.

"Sardauna" is a traditional title in Northern Nigeria that originated from the Sokoto caliphate; the headquarters of the Islamic Caliphate, it literally means; "Captain of the bodyguards" or "Commander of the Princes ".

It is a title that is given to the most loyal and courageous Prince. His role is to clear the routes for Sultan during War periods; also serves as a striking arm and last defense to the Sultanate.

Our correspondents report that Ida in a chat with Katsina Media and Publicity, expressed his joy and satisfaction by the crowd that witnessed the ceremony.  He also prayed that Allah takes everyone back to their destination safely.

@Katgovmedia reports the highlights of the event to include Dubar (Horse riding), Local songs and dancing including dinner at the Saidu Barda House, the Katsina State Old Government House.
